Stories that involve Russian President Vladimir Putin are fairly ominous on their own. Add to that, the prospect of falling out of a moving plane in the middle of the sky and it paints an even more uncomfortable picture. One man who understood the blend of the two ideas was Dmitry Belyayev. Belyayev was an adrenaline junkie that decided to mark Putin’s 71st birthday, which was on October 7. The move was risky to begin with, but what happened to the daredevil next really made the stunt much more worthy of reconsideration.
Belyayev fell to his death while descending from the skies at full speed. He was not able to make it to his planned event in Gudermes, Chechnya. The incident was rather devastating and horrific to witness in person as the 45-year-old met his tragic demise.
Putin’s Celebration Turns Tragic

Had things gone to plan, Belyayev would have landed safely in Gudermes, Chechnya after his dive to honor the Russian president on his birthday. The Russian daredevil had over 3,700 dives under his belt. In fact, he was also a part of the Russian national team before he met his tragic fate.

Despite his experience, Belyayev landed in a water body at full speed. Tragically, the impact of this landing would have been too much for anyone to take. After realizing that the dive had gone belly-up, rescuers on the scene rushed to help Belyayev. sadly, it was too late for the rescuers to save the skydiver and he died on the spot. The Parachuting Federation of India claimed that Belyayev crashed due to his miscalculation of vertical speed. This in turn caused him to deploy his parachute very late.

The statement continued: “Medical workers fought for Dmitry’s life from the first minutes of the collision, and resuscitation measures were carried out on the spot.” In conclusion, the statement said, that Belyayev’s death is an “irreparable loss for the entire parachute community.”
Vigilance while Skydiving
Belyayev’s performance was part of an annual international parachuting competition hosted by the Russian University of Special Forces to honor President Putin’s birthday. In a statement, the group said “We express our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”

Belyayev, who was from Pushkin, near St Petersburg, was an absolute professional with great experience. However, this fact cannot discount human error in circumstances like these. It was and always will be, important for skydivers, extreme sports enthusiasts, and adrenaline junkies to take the necessary precautions before performing their stunts. We hope that Belyayev’s family has the strength to process and accept the loss of their loved one.
