VIDEO: Robbery Goes Horribly Wrong as Man in a Cowboy Hat Grapples and Disarms Thief

Mexico is no stranger to standoffs. In a recently resurfaced viral video that made its round on Twitter recently, we saw exactly why it is important for us to learn some self-defense. A Mexican man saves the day after he wrestled down an armed robber.

Amateur Robbery Gone Wrong

In what can only be described as one of the most amateurish attempted robberies ever, this footage shows a man in a hood trying to rob a store in 2019. He comes in guns blazing, pointing it right at the cashier, demanding the money. Across the counter, we see the hero of the day, the Mexican man in a cowboy hat, calmly assessing the situation.

Aware of the danger this man poses, the robber proceeds to point the gun at him. However, what he didn’t expect was a lady to come up from behind the aisle, blissfully unaware of the robbery. Fazed by this sudden appearance, the robber immediately turns and points the gun at the woman.

For our cowboy hero, this was exactly the opportunity required to take things into his hands. And by things, we mean the gun that the robber had in his hand. The moment the robber turned, he lunged at him, disarming the gun in the process.

The woman, fazed by all this started running back the way she came from. Meanwhile, the robber and the cowboy man continued to wrestle. An astute person dressed in white, seemingly an employee at the store, ran forward, straight for his gun, and put it a safe distance away.

The struggle then continues away from the view of the camera.

Failed Attempt To Flee

Knowing what was coming, the robber attempted to get free from the man’s grip and run off. Away from the vision of the camera, the man somehow managed to get rid of his hoodie in an attempt to be free from the man in the cowboy hat. He attempts to make a run for the door, but the employee who previously took the gun away, ran straight at him, as they manage to detain him.

While the aftermath of this event is fairly shrouded in mystery, it did send Twitter appreciating the efforts of everyone involved.

“I really like the quick thinking of the worker that ran up and crabbed (SIC) the gun. The cowboy is a great alpha male,” wrote one Twitter user. User Tim Harris also pointed out how well they worked together, lauding their group effort.
