Karmen Gordin, a Memphis Pride All-Star cheerleader is about to make history in a few days! Given that the US All-American Bowl is the biggest All-Star game featuring athletes from American high schools, the Arlington, Texas resident, Gordin, has been chosen to cheer in the prestigious US All-American Bowl this year.

She would be part of one of the sixty chosen athletes who will be cheering at the event. When she appeared for an interview recently, Gordin was found highly elated about the opportunity. Let us dive deep and hear what she had to say.

After the news broke, Action News spoke with her and she appeared vibrant and jovial. Gordin stated that the opportunity came to her suddenly when she was least expecting it. She further went on to thank the people without whose support Gordin could not have continued on her cheerleading journey. 

Gordin said, “Thinking about all the support I have gotten from everyone. My cheer gym, my school friends, my family… I’m just very grateful to them.” While the athlete is looking forward to having a blast at the Alamodome Stadium on January 6, 2023, she has a larger picture in mind that she wants to work on. 

The cheer athlete expressed her wish for cheerleading to be accepted as a proper sport globally. One of her main aims was to get the same recognition that on-field athletes garner from the fans. While elaborating on the topic, Gordin spoke about the pain and hardships the cheerleaders had to go through.

Karmen Gordin told Action News that the cheerleaders went through the same rigorous practice routine that any on-field athletes would do. They work amidst pain and sacrifices performing their routines repeatedly until perfection.

Gordin also wanted to work for future generations and set an example for them to follow. The cheerleader stated that once she got into the routine, there was no turning back. Although things were tough as she had to juggle studies too, all the hard work ultimately paid off. She went on to achieve quite a few milestones in her cheerleading journey and would be happy if she inspired the younger kids to follow in her footsteps.
