The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) works in the favour of college athletes and aims at providing them a nurturing conducive environment.
However, a recent policy from the NCAA has caused resistance among female athletes. The permission of intoxication by the NCAA comes as a clear shocker. Macy Petty is one such athlete who has highlighted substance abuse within NCAA.

The NCAA recently made a decision of removing cannabis from its suspended drugs list, and it has been among the hot topics of debate.
Macy continued to talk about the unreasonable choices made by the NCAA regarding the use of toxic substances among athletes, “So not only will I be forced to compete against a male, but also an athlete who is stoned? This is absurd! These standards used to speak to the professional capabilities of those wearing the NCAA logo.” She concluded
There have been complaints about partiality and biological overpowering in the game. Macy opened up about the unfair happenings that need to be dealt with seriously.
NCAA and the transgender policy
In the recent policy derived by the NCAA, there were privileges mentioned for the transgender community in sports too. However, Macy Petty, a college athlete thinks, it’s a partiality as a biologically male person would always have an upper hand in women’s sports. She says that as an NCAA athlete, discipline comes first, there’s a lot of hardwork and multitasking involved, where there must be no space for any kind of substance abuse. She talks about her difficulties as a young college athlete juggling between her studies, sports and family. And that’s the spirit of NCAA, resilience and a proper frame of mind.

As she continues, “This alarming move enables males to rob female athletes of titles and scholarships and places girls in dangerous situations that enable opportunities for assault. Though a male biological advantage used to reign, the rules, no matter how established, must bow to the new agenda and turn on blinders to biological truth.”
The decisions and policies made by the NCAA have benefited the players often but recent policies don’t seem to be appreciated by the athletic community. It is a hope that things get resolved in peace between the organisation and the players. Probably, the NCAA should reconsider and strike off the policies that support intoxication and abuse of any kind within athletics for all the right reasons.
