The University of Cincinnati Bearcats were all set to face the Iowa State Cyclones in their sold-out Homecoming game, but with a twist. On October 14, 2023, the Bearcats were eyeing their first Big 12 win and a memorable homecoming celebration. The stage is set for a showdown between the UC Bearcats and the Cyclones, with both teams meeting for the first time ever. However, what made this game truly exceptional was a patriotic performance that evidently graced the pre-game festivities. 

Team Fastrax, known for their awe-inspiring skydiving displays, surprisingly stole the spotlight with a stunning demonstration jump of patriotism. As the National Anthem played, a Team Fastrax member took a skydiving leap, glorifying the event with a breathtaking jump. Gladly, the entire scene was showcased on the stadium’s scoreboard with pride, as it was recorded through a live air-to-ground video feed. Subsequently, the cheerful crowd assured that every spectator in Nippert Stadium had relished this extraordinary performance.

Thrilling match gains more momentum

The venue witnessed the set getting set as the UC Bearcats, known for their rich football history, were eager to snap a three-game losing streak and claim victory on their home turf. With an impressive record at Nippert Stadium, they had seemingly secured 26 wins since 2019, making it one of the most formidable home grounds in the nation. Iowa State, on the other hand, had been making waves in the Big 12, with a 3-3 overall record and a 2-1 standing in the conference.

Unfortunately enough, the group’s recent upset win against TCU had visibly bolstered their confidence, as they encountered trembling during the face-off. The Cyclones boasted a solid defense, ranking first in the Big 12 and second in the nation in sacks allowed, with only three total. Additionally, this awaited game promised to be a showdown of top wide receivers, featuring ISU’s Jaylin Noel and UC’s Xzavier Henderson. Both players are widely considered among the Big 12’s best. While the game exhibited high spirits, the inaugural ceremony had a great show of patriotism in plan.

Respecting the nation through remarkable skydiving feat

The Team Fastrax member made an incredible dive during the event, as he carried a majestic American flag of 1,800 sq. ft., along with UC Bearcats flags in tow. John Hart, owner of Start Skydiving and the founder of Team Fastrax, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to be a part of such an important day for UC Football.” Remarkably, like every other performance, Team Fastrax dedicated their astounding skydiving feat to an eminent personality. 

This particular jump was in honor of a fallen hero who can never be forgotten, Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph C. Lopez. Joseph had made his ultimate sacrifice while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom, gaining respect from many alongside this skydiving venture. This act of remembrance by Team Fastrax added an emotional and profound dimension to the Homecoming Game festivities. Their performance kept reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by individuals like Lopez, marking a heartwarming change in the ground’s atmosphere.

As the UC Bearcats preparedly faced the Iowa State Cyclones, the match depicted way more with its unforgettable homecoming moment. With an impressive record at Nippert Stadium and a strong desire to claim victory, the Bearcats are determined to turn the tide in their future endeavors. While Team Fastrax’s patriotic pregame skydiving session included an extra layer of excitement and emotion to this already special occasion, their motive was bigger.
