Late-night bike ride turns tragic?

A young woman of 25 years, Maria Chavez-Morales went out with her bicycle for a late night ride. Her life took a devastating turn at the intersection of E. Schulman Ave. and US Highway 83.

Morales was riding a bicycle in the area of Garden City. She was hit by a car after she defied a red signal. A 36-year-old man was driving southbound on US Highway 83. The signal at Southbound was green.

Immediately the Garden City Police Department arrived at the scene and declared Morales dead at the spot. Alongside the cops, EMTs and the fire department rushed to the scene.

In the surrounding area of the accident, traffic was diverted for more than four hours. The investigation of the case is still in process. The Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Department of Transportation assisted the Police Department at the scene of the accident.

The police department stated in a release, “The Garden City Police Department offers its condolences to the family and loved ones of Maria Chavez-Morales,”?

Another similar incident came to light a few days ago. A 17-year-old cyclist from Utah lost her life after she was hit by a garbage truck.

The situation unfolds in a very similar tragic trajectory. The girl was probably a student from Bear River High School. The local police department immediately arrived at the scene. The investigation is still under process. The department did not reveal the identity of the garbage truck driver as the situation remains unclear.
