As Jason Khon-Hohensee, a close friend of Jake’s fellow cyclist recounted his memory of the deceased in an interview with WCTV, “Not just for our cycling community, but we all knew Jake was going to go on to do great things in life, and we’re all so hurt by the fact that he’s not going to have that opportunity to change the world like we knew he would.”

The Florida State University had posted on Facebook in May congratulating Boykin on winning the 2023 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championship Time Trial.

However, such a promising life came to an end when he got hit by a pickup truck driver, a 60-year-old man from Tallahassee. Although Jake was swiftly transported to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, medical assistance failed to revive him.
