In a thrilling display of skill and determination, a group of female skydivers has etched their names into history. On September 6th, 2023, in skies above Skydive Langar near Melton, these women embarked on an exhilarating journey.
A journey that shattered not one but two national records. A journey that saw them dive 14,000 feet, and hit speeds of 120 mph while being upside down. Naturally, this reaffirmed their status as pioneers in the world of extreme sports.
Soaring to New Heights: A Head-Down Formation Triumph

With hearts pounding and adrenaline coursing through their veins, a fearless dozen women took a leap of faith from a plane soaring at a staggering 14,000 feet. The mission? To set a groundbreaking record for the largest assembly of women successfully executing a ‘head-down’ formation jump. As gravity pulled them earthward at speeds exceeding 130mph, these skydivers defied convention, performing an intricate ballet in the sky. Their bodies, pointed downward, defying both fear and gravity, the women displayed incredible skill, discipline, and unity.
“Not only did we break records, but we broke barriers,” exclaimed world record holder Hannah Parker, who spearheaded this historic endeavor alongside fellow record holder Elise Sharp. “This achievement signifies not just our passion for skydiving but our unwavering commitment to pushing the limits. It’s a momentous leap for women in extreme sports.”

But the thrill-seeking women did not stop at one record. Following their breathtaking head-down formation triumph, they embarked on an even more audacious mission. The creation of the largest female total break sequential head-down skydive. Ten remarkable women defied gravity once more, building a complex aerial shape before skillfully letting go, only to reunite in mid-air.

Gareth Thomas, the Managing Director at Skydive Langar, couldn’t contain his excitement. He stated “Skydiving is such a huge passion for all of us. And it’s fantastic to see boundaries being pushed and new achievements being made right here at our drop zone. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
As they dispersed around 5,000 feet above the ground to deploy their parachutes and gracefully descend, these fearless women left an indelible mark on the world of skydiving. Hannah Parker remarked, “It’s our pleasure to host female events like this one. Our hope is that our efforts will inspire other women in skydiving to get involved. And for more females generally to come and have a go.”
