31-Year-Old Polish Freerider Takes a Tumble at Red Bull Rampage

In sports, competition is the name of the game. The best athletes in the sport were always the most competitive ones. Competition drives individuals to be better. It forces people to strive to be more capable of reaching the top spot through hard work and determination. However, it can also be the force that can lead to an unforgiving place with just you and your darkest thoughts. Too much of anything is bad and so that seems to be the truth with having a competitive spirit.

Nobody knows this fact better than Szymon Godziek. Godziek is the rider who came in second at last year’s Red Bull Rampage. This year, he came to the competition with a lot to prove. And that’s exactly what he did during his performance.

Godziek Suffers Nasty Crash

Godziek is extremely good at his job. He seemed to be his usually skillful self at the Red Bull event. However, skill was not enough to do the job on a day like this. The daredevil rider hit the exposed battleship before spinning and executing the barspin. From there he kept moving on from one spicy variation to another, following up the final variation with an impressive 360. What happened next would absolutely shock you.

Despite nailing all his stunts so far, Godziek needed a little more focus and concentration. As he approached the technical lily pad feature, everything started going wrong. Godziek hit a bobble on the final backspin, leading to him losing balance and missing the move. Godziek was sent straight over the bars eventually crashing in the dirt. The silver lining is that Godziek was able to put his momentum to rest before reaching the canyon.

For the most part, Godziek was okay. Although it would be fair to assume that the freestyle rider likely had the wind knocked out of him.

Fortunate Injury-free Escape

While we’re happy Godziek did not hurt himself, it was rather disappointing to not see him finish clean. Godziek has been on a quest for that elusive clean victory. With what we had seen until a point, it was likely that Godziek had a lot more in his locker to put up a fantastic performance. You can even watch his full run here.

While Godziek is almost known for coming second last year. However, his riding today was much more bizarre While the Polish free rider was wiped out during his attempt, he certainly did his job as an entertainer.
