Despite claiming titles as a mountain runner, a Swiss professional has resurfaced in reprimanding controversy. Stéphanie Perriard, known for her accomplishments in SwissPeaks 2022, was presented with a prolonged suspension after recurring allegations came her way. Shockingly enough, this episode was an extension to a previously declared ban, halting her prospects for the past three years.

Regrettably, Perriard’s journey into the annals of infamy began with a revelation of banned substance usage, banning her from mountain running games. However, the recent decision was catalyzed by a different accusation, where she was evaluated under charges of falsification. With this move, Perriard’s running status now hung in the balance, gasping for revival after an additional 6-year halt to her career.

Initially, the mountain running professional was handed a removal notice after doping rumors came true, forcing her to admit the use of prohibited substances. Adding to the injury, the violative parameters mentioned Perriard’s dishonesty beyond personal impacts, hinting that she was trafficking steroids. Evidently, reports claimed she was guilty of peddling Sustanon, a banned steroid known for its muscle-building properties.

However, the narrative took a coarser twist when fresh evidence emerged from Perriard’s fraudulent statements, recorded during the ongoing investigation. While attempting to manipulate the investigation in her favor, the mountain running participant was found guilty of misleading authorities and fabricating statements. Subsequently, her actions resulted in a violation of the Anti-Doping Statute, sparking an extension to the penalty.

Array of allegations ruin future prospects

The mountain running professional specifically violated the terms in Article 2.5, which prohibited lying about any element of doping control by an athlete or other individuals involved. While her previous suspension was for disobeying the rules under Article 10.8.1, this renewed halt landed another brutal pause in Perriard’s upcoming performances.

Now totaling nine years of absence from the competitive arena, this move was not the end of her miseries. Consequently, a fine of 1,500 Swiss francs was also imposed by Swiss Sport Integrity, which currently rounds up to a whopping amount of almost $1700.

On November 16 and 17, a formal meeting was organized by the World Anti-Doping Agency Executive Committee and the Foundation Board.
