13-Year-Old Student from Swanzey Secures Gold at the Cheerleading World Cup in South Korea

The 2023 International Cheer Union World Cup evidently showcased exceptional talent and dedication taking center stage. While competitive cheer events frequently portray boundless glamor and joy, sometimes extraordinary stories transcend the boundaries of the sport. A similar instance of excellence surfaced online when Kingslee Primrose, a 13-year-old cheerleader from Swanzey, made history like never before. 

Primrose recently etched her name in the annals of success after her journey soared at the prestigious championship held in Seoul, South Korea. The seventh grader, along with her marvelous team, achieved an unexpected victory by bringing home the coveted gold medal. With an impressive skill set that would make even seasoned athletes envious, Kingslee had already earned a righteous spot on the Ice All-Stars team. The youth co-ed cheerleading group brightened with her glorious presence in Chicago, while Primrose began a new phase of her life. 

Cheerleading with indomitable passion

Primrose was never an average school student, as her determined trials gained a dream cheer role during the summer months. The teen cheerleader’s remarkable journey from Swanzey to the global stage was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Gesturing toward the Northern Lights gym in Keene, where her cheerleading journey began at the tender age of 2, Kingslee recalled her struggles. “I’ve grown up in here,” she shared, explaining that the gym was not a mere training ground. 

Reportedly, Primrose honed her skills and built lifelong friendships at the gym, making the venue her second home. Her immense talent soon caught the eye of coaches from the youth coed team while she performed at a camp in Texas. In no time, Kingslee was offered a spot as one of only five flyers on the team, bypassing the usual rigorous selection process. To prepare for the world cheerleading stage, she began traveling to Chicago twice a month for training sessions. Ramping up to weekly sessions as the World Cup drew near, the young girl’s consistent efforts soon paid off. 

Cheerleaders win gold at the World Cup 

Kingslee’s team, representing the United States, was composed of some of the best talent in the nation at the World Cup. They quickly mastered the two-minute routine, marking a testament to the team’s dedication and unity. As the cheerleading squad triumphed, they secured the first spot in the competition. Primrose’s debut international performance in Seoul was also her first time traveling abroad and facing the world’s top cheerleaders, a hurdle she tackled successfully.

Her win was more than just an achievement; it also represented her roots in the Northern Lights gym, bringing joy to the small New Hampshire community she hails from. Recently, the sport was recognized by the International Olympic Committee during a declaration in 2021. Reflecting on the increasing global popularity of cheerleading, competitions like the World Cup might pave the way for its inclusion in the Olympics by 2028. Exhibiting candid glee after honoring her country, state, and gym, Primrose expressed her gratitude, stating, “It’s cool that I get to represent the USA.”
