It’s probably really fun being a prodigy at something, isn’t it? The feeling of being an absolute ace in your field of interest must be an exhilarating experience. Although prodigies face immense pressure to succeed, their abilities have advantages. In this case, those upsides come in the form of two podium finishes in the Colorado State Championship Races for Jenner Brooks at just 13 years of age.

The young motocross rider, who just moved to Colorado, is making his mark on the region and doing so in style. He proudly earned himself two podium finishes at the Rocky Mountain Riders Association Thunder Valley State Championship in Loveland. The state race was only his second, and he showed no signs of slowing down.

In the Openmini classification, Brooks’s first match of his run, he placed second overall. While he started off strong in the early race, he eventually hit a rough spot along the way. Ultimately, he was forced to play catchup after struggling to make it over one jump. Still unhindered by this obstacle, he made his way past all but one of his competitors.

Brooks’ mom claimed that her son was disadvantaged in the 85 division because he was a lot heavier. The 85 division refers to the size of the bike’s engine and wheels. All engine sizes are set to a standard of 85 cubic centimeters. “He is just really tall and muscular where his buddy that he rides with is a national racer and is 30 pounds lighter,” she added, as reported by Steamboat and pilot. However, watching Jenner race, you would be hard-pressed to find any liabilities, let alone disadvantages, in his locker.

However, in his next race, Brooks’ size came in handy. While racers up to the age of 15 were allowed to participate, Brooks held his own and bagged himself in a bronze spot. Despite being stressed when his races began, Brooks was never really going to give up on earning his podium spots.

Brooks Jenner: A motocross prodigy

During the summer, Brooks often has nowhere close to train. He finds himself frequenting a private track in Craig and sometimes rides on trails in North Routt. Still, those choices are very limiting. By the time winter begins, Brooks’ challenges compound exponentially. Brooks plans to stay in shape via skiing and snowboarding in the winter. He also plans to take on bigger bikes and older, more experienced competitors at the AMA Arenacross events this winter.

While he wasn’t yet able to bag a gold, that feels like it is inevitable. With the right training and good guidance, the sky is the limit for the young rider. Additionally, Brooks already has a great relationship and attitude towards the sport. “The reason I do this is because I love it,” he says, showing growth and understanding beyond his years.
