Remarkable Successes at Just 10 Years Old

Mary Jones, a mere 10 years old, is no stranger to the thrill of adrenaline. Her journey began at a tender age, as she embarked on her first paragliding experience at four years old. Hailing from Basingstoke, Hampshire, this pint-sized adventurer has since embarked on an ongoing adrenaline-fueled journey, mastering activities such as kite flying and wakeboarding. With an impressive grasp of water sports, she has been reigning as the world champion in wakeboarding for two consecutive years.

In her own words, Mary describes her exhilarating experiences, “I remember feeling scared to go up paragliding. But when I did it, it was the most fun thing in the world. When I went skydiving, I was excited and a bit nervous. But the excitement canceled it all out. My dad did wakeboarding first and then I wanted to have a go. I just really enjoy it.”

Proud Parents Standing Tall

David, Mary’s 37-year-old father, speaks of her achievements with pride, though he acknowledges the inherent risks, particularly in wakeboarding. “I think of all the things she’s done, wakeboarding is the most dangerous. She’s out on the board alone and doing tricks in the air – she could land badly and hurt herself,” he shared, revealing the dual emotions of pride and concern that come with parenting such a spirited child.

Her mother, too, reflects on her daughter’s daring pursuits. “My husband and daughter do adventurous things. I am nervous when she does it and always keep my eyes on her. But I look back at the videos and I see she is so happy. We are proud of her,” says Ladda, her voice carrying a mixture of apprehension and admiration.

Despite their immense pride in Mary’s accomplishments, her parents remain wary of the inherent dangers tied to high-risk sports. For them, the safety and well-being of their daughter always come first. While Mary sets her sights on becoming a wakeboarding champion in the future, her parents pledge their unwavering support. However, the shadow of concern for her safety will always linger, a natural worry that accompanies any parent’s unending love.
