Citizens of California are in the midst of a devastating flooding disaster. After back-to-back atmospheric rivers completely drenched the city, roads became flooded and cities shut down. The unprecedented levels of rain immediately prompted authorities to release a warning for hurricane-force winds. They also asked everyone to get ready for even more heavy rain. But amidst all this chaos, surfers in the southern county of Ventura found their way to break away from the tension.
Despite officials giving a warning that counties in southern California could face potentially catastrophic floods, surfers from Ventura ventured out on the streets to make use of their situation. With the roads completely covered by a layer of water, several of them got their boards out to have a gala time.

We have all heard stories about how people say they can sleep even when there’s a storm outside. Well, it seems like we finally found the 21st century version of that old tale. Citizens of Ventura county chose to make most of the cards they were dealt with and turned a disaster into a day of fun. Multiple news outlets showed videos of surfers getting out their boards and giving it a whirl on the streets.
All this action took place on the Channel Drive and Arbor Avenue, where a man and his brother decided to change things up. After surfing on the roads while the rain poured down, they even brought out a kayak to use. Talk about making most of a situation!
Speaking to the media outlets after their antics went viral, a surfer said, “It gets like this during most major rainstorms, but it doesn’t always get like this,” One of the surfers also said, “It’s always fun to see it when it gets mad flooded.”

KCAL News shared video of their telecast on the surfers’ delight and users on YouTube had quite a lot to say about it.
One user made a very cheeky and animated dig at the two surfers and said, “too bad you can do that without water using a skateboard. Its called surfing on land.” The user here was probably not a fan of their surfing abilities.
This user quoted what the news anchor said to its viewers, but adopted a slightly different approach. They said, “We don’t recommend doing this. However, if you do, you will have lots of fun and get your 15 minutes of fame.”
