According to the diagnosis of the doctor, Brendan is suffering from Surfers Myelopathy. Although, this is a curable condition, but will take some time. This injury happens when the surfer over-arches his/ her back muscles. In a recent report by the National Library of Medicine, only 60% of these cases are curable. People can get injured like this while participating in activities other than surfing. Other activities like gymnastics, cheerleading, yoga, acrobats, and even pilates can cause this injury.

While speaking to wsbradio, Brendan and his wife Cho Park gave a brief about his situation and recovery process. “My goal is to be able to withstand the 8-9 hour flight back home by the end of this week,”. “Once back home I will be starting inpatient physical therapy that will help expedite the process of my healing and being able to walk again.”
