It has always been intriguing for audiences to see cheerleaders performing stunning moves accompanied by jaw-dropping stunts. Although the moves might seem visually engaging and thrilling, the concern for safety measures too comes hand in hand with it. The SUNY Plattsburgh cheer team faced a stop because they had no insurance policy. It was required to perform stunts, and it also included a combination of risk protections to take safety measures for the team members.
During the lockdown phase, the dedicated team continued their practice sessions via Zoom calls. Keeping their level of enthusiasm high, they tried to overcome the hard times being beside each other. Although the team was composed of experienced members back then, it was almost impossible to practice stunts online.
As they resumed their rehearsal sessions after quarantine, everything did not turn out to be as smooth as one would think it to be. The team was still stopped from performing stunts for several other reasons. In 2021, the team held their first tryouts after returning to the campus.

The team will be receiving professional training in risk prevention on October 14 and 15 to prepare them to stunt safely. But unfortunately, only a handful of cheerleaders were a part of the team when it was finally possible for them to perform stunts.
But the addition of stunts will finally make cheerleading even more engaging and attractive. Tierney said, “As a base, no matter what, I had to catch my flyer. I knew there was no way she was allowed to hit the ground”.
