A star whose dreams were just beginning to take flight suddenly crashed to an end. A vibrant young athlete in Oklahoma, a star in the making, has cast a shadow of grief over a community. 

A young life that has abruptly extinguished creating a void within the softball community. In a close-knit community where the cheers for a softball player were just getting louder, has suddenly come to a standstill. This is a tale where the bonds of solidarity have emerged from the darkest of times.

Tragic loss of promising softball star

Last Thursday, a student from Kiefer High School, a rising softball sensation of just 15 years, died after a car crash in Creek Country.

Kiefer Public Schools superintendent Randy Shaw identified the individual as Hadley Wood. Shaw said, “Yesterday one of our students, Hadley Wood, passed away. Hadley was an exceptional young lady. She was a great student and a member of our softball team.” Shaw further added, “…Please keep Hadley and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

The incident happened at Keifer, a small town south of Tulsa in Oklahoma. The news of the accident spread like wildfire that evening. The investigation is still under process. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has been investigating the case. 

A GoFundMe campaign has been functioning to raise funds to support Wood’s family. Kyron Stokes, the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign said, “The Wood family is grieving. They have lost a daughter, granddaughter, sister and many others have lost a friend, teammate, and classmate.”

Softball community unites in grief and support to remember Hadley Wood 

The Oklahoma softball community has been mourning the death of the rising star. They have been offering their condolences and support for Wood’s family.

Netizens too are showering their tributes and kind words of sympathy on social media. On the official Twitter handle of Kiefer Lady Trojans Softball, fans have commented and showered their tributes.

The Kiefer team posted, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hadley Wood’s family. No words can express how we feel. We want you all to know how much Hadley meant to us, she will always have a special place in our hearts! She will also always be a member of this team and know if you all need anything”.
