“They’re My Best Cheerleaders”-Music Star Shakira Who Recently Split With Soccer Legend Gerard Pique Credits Her Children for Supporting Her

Shakira said it was “incredible” to have her boys rooting for her on the big day. When the Colombian star’s sons walked down the aisle at the Video Vanguard Award show, the audience were awestruck. The duo displayed an impeccable style sense as they dazzled in black-and-gold tracksuits that were embellished with signature baroque patterns from Versace.

Milan and Sasha steal the show for Shakira

The chart-topping diva was presented with the Vanguard honor last Tuesday. Besides receiving the accolade, the show got to witness an epic performance by the pop music queen. Shakira sang and grooved on her biggest hits. She even sailed atop the crowd while singing a medley of her top singles, including ‘Whenever, Wherever’, ‘She Wolf’ and ‘Objection’.

Milan (10), and Sasha (8), joined their mother as her best cheerleaders at the Video Vanguard Award Show. The 46-year-old was in awe of her sons as she said, “They’re so loving and caring and they inspire to be better, to be a better person just for them”. She shared how her sons reacted after they witnessed an incredible performance by their mom, “They were non-stop, just telling me things like, ‘Mom, you were incredible!’… They’re my best cheerleaders.” Shakira announced her separation from her ex, former Spanish soccer player, Gerard Piqué, in 2022, with whom she shares her two sons. 

Alongside the huge fan base of the music industry icon, Shakira revealed her sons have been her ultimate support system. “They’re just the most amazing thing in my life. They’re everything to me.”, said Shakira about her little boys.

Shakira’s cathartic saga with fans and family 

Shakira shared a relationship for over 11 years. After splitting up with Piqué, she is reconstructing her life. Her prime focus in recent years has been her career and her family. She shared, “I think that I’ve been pouring my soul into these lyrics, especially lately. It’s been quite therapeutic, like a catharsis.”

After receiving her honor, Shakira thanked her fans, saying, “…I think that they’re the best fans in the world.” She added, “I never thought really that my fans could sustain me and could be there for me in so many ways…”
