Maisie Hill’s road to recovery after terrifying crash

While the snowboarder was training in Switzerland, she had an accident. Due to the crash, Hill was left with a huge list of injuries including broken ribs, spine, and pelvis. Besides she suffered a fractured lung, left with a brain bleed, and a lacerated liver that caused the snowboarder to lose almost 20% of her blood.
However, the snowboarder at the tender age of 22 endured a seven-month recovery and demonstrated unwavering determination since she had to relearn walking. She went through extensive rehabilitation processes aiming to recover her physical strength. Defying all odds, in an interview with BBC, she shared her aspirations for the future, “I hope I can qualify and go to the Olympics, that’s a big dream.” Even though her practice sessions in New Zealand had been slow and demanded patience, she got an opportunity to find herself all over again.

Hill happened to be at the top of her career, having a record of two top 10s at the World Cup and had been awarded a £6,000 ($7,654) grant from the Ellie Soutter Foundation as a promising young talent. Drawing inspiration from her achievements, the snowboarder remained optimistic as she stated, “I’ve just kept a really good mindset throughout this whole thing.
