War heroes defend their country with all their might. A recent team from Vattenfall working on the development of a large wind farm have taken a bold leap from the skies to support armed forces veterans.

These five individuals are a part of the team behind Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone. They have collectively raised over £2,220 in aid of the charity “Walking with the Wounded,” which operates in north Norfolk and assists military veterans in their transition to civilian life. It provides support in terms of finding employment, mental health care, and general well-being.

A team skydives from 13000 feet

Among the brave participants was Denise Hone, who shared her experience of the skydives, which occurred in Beccles. She revealed, “To put my fear of heights into context, when booking hotel rooms, I ask to be on a low level; you won’t catch me on roller coasters.” Joining her in this daring endeavour were Anne-Marie Roikjaer, Rob Anderson, Richard Beck, and Will Sealey.

The Vattenfall team was not alone in their skydiving endeavour. They joined forces with seven other individuals from the energy industry hailing from Great Yarmouth. Some more established places like Lowestoft-based businesses such as Armultra Limited, CeraPhi Energy, North Star Renewables, Vectur Energy Services, Windcat, and the East of England Energy Group (EGR). Recently, there have been many who have been pushing their limits to create some good.

A charity wave

There have been many individuals who go through tough hikes, skydivers and many such extremes to raise funds. The money produced by these events eventually helps the people in need. There are numerous examples where people have cycled or hiked for miles to raise money. Some have a personal motivation for it while some are good at it.

There is an urgency in these times to rejuvenate the humanity in all of us. The smile which comes on the face of the needy is sometimes all the pleasure we need. In modern times, where people are busy in their own lives, teams like these are also needed. Together, this courageous group of people performing skydives has successfully raised a total of more than £8,000 for a noble cause. They are proving that teamwork and determination can make a significant impact in supporting our veterans.
