People doing charity is a very common practice. But what if an old woman, suffering from arthritis, decides to jump from the sky and contribute to charity? Sounds impossible right? Well, that is exactly what the story of 74-year-old Thabani Sithole looks like. Sithole served as a pediatric nurse until she could not work anymore due to her arthritis. Even after retirement, she kept working and now Thabani is on a mission to help the ones in need.

Sithole has stated that her new adventure is aimed at making life comfortable for people of her age living in poverty. As she embarks on the new adventure, let us take a deep dive into today’s fascinating story.

When Sithole was diagnosed with COVID-19, she became too fragile to work. Thus, all she could manage was to live off her savings. However, there came a time when Sithole was on the verge of going bankrupt. It was at this moment, the Independent Age came into her life as a guardian angel.

They helped her find her footing by offering financial assistance. Thus, in order to repay the debts of the Independent Age, Thabani Sithole decided to raise funds for charity. However, most daringly, the 74-year-old decided to go skydiving. Sithole stated that she loves taking up new challenges and skydiving is a part of it.

Thabani stated,By doing this skydive I hope to help the charity support more people like me and spread the word that help is out there. Independent Age made me feel like a normal person with a bright future ahead of me. They made me feel like I matter.”   The 74-year-old had already raised £400 and has a target of £1000, which she is sure will be achieved. Thabani shared that she would be forever indebted to the Independent Age for changing her life.

Independent Age changed Thabani Sithole’s life for good

When Thabani Sithole realized there was no money to pay for her house, she felt lost. Sithole felt her house would be confiscated. However, when she contacted Independent Age, they helped her claim additional support. This included Council Tax Reduction, Pension Credit, and Attendance Allowance which amounted to £800 per month.

Thabani now wants other elderly people to know about the charity as well. She stated that no one should feel alone and must know that help is always there. This tale of Thabani Sithole is truly inspiring. The determination shown by her despite being in her mid-seventies is a shining example of “Where there is a will there’s a way.”
