The daring leap was orchestrated at the height of 8,500 feet from a de Havilland DHC-6-200-Tein Otter aircraft. Even though this skydiving feat had been a debut for Governor Abbott, more than being a personal accomplishment, it was his gesture of expressing his gratitude towards the protectors of the nation.

In a statement released by the Office of the Texas Governor, Abbott shared a glimpse of his skydiving experience, “Texans and Americans owe so much to the brave men and women who serve our nation and protect the freedoms that we enjoy every day. I am proud to share my first skydiving jump with Al Blaschke to honor veterans, like him, who helped safeguard the freedoms and promise of our country for generations of Americans.”
