In January 2022, after five years of intense planning, the sky-diver took the plunge of a lifetime. He aimed to disperse 100 million seeds of 27 different native species across the barren lands of the Amazon rainforest.

In a video he posted on Instagram, he mentioned he had put in 2 years of hard work for that one moment. He also goes on to state that it was one of the most important projects of his career. And the sole reason behind it was, as he stated, “I would love to inspire people to find their own ways to help nature”

The audacious feat was not the result of mere whim, but a culmination of an epic five-year odyssey of meticulous planning, relentless dedication, and unyielding belief in a greener future. The biggest challenge for Cani and his team was enormous!

For a world record holder and after training the Special Forces in British and Canadian armies, this job seems like a no-brainer. But the amount of precision and planning to get the task perfectly executed takes a true genius. And that’s what the sky-diver and his team were.

Moving 300 kilos of the seeds at 14000 feet above sea level in the middle of nowhere was not a simple task. They calculated the box was to be at 6,000 feet, 2-3 km north of the target area when it had to be opened. From there on, the winds and all the nature’s aspects would take the seeds to their destinations.

On January 22, Cani jumped at 6,500 feet at a speed of 300kmph. Keeping the grip on the box was the hardest part, but he managed to stabilize at around 6,000 feet and dispersed the seeds precisely where they wanted them to be. Now the world is eagerly anticipating the transformation of the Amazon after this event. They project this initiative to have a 95% germination rate of the seeds, which is closely monitored via satellites.
