“Now I’m not saying we play favorites in our home, but since my wife discovered that she’s of Nigerian descent, it’s likely to get a little bit more competitive this year,” Prince Harry said.

This newfound connection to her heritage has evidently added an extra layer of excitement and competitiveness to their household.  Harry’s candid remark showcased his sense of humor and camaraderie with the participants. Dutchess of Sussex and their two kids were not in attendance during the opening ceremony. However, reports suggest she will be joining during the games. 

Prince Harry’s Opening Speech at Düsseldorf

Showing appreciation for the nation where the games were being held for the first time, he addressed the crowd with his first few words in German. The Prince then welcomed new nations like Columbia, Israel, and Nigeria to the competition at Merkur Spiel-Arena.

“We’re also really excited to have new nations join us. Let’s hear it for Columbia, Israel, and Nigeria,” he said. Prince Harry then urged the competitors to grab every opportunity.

“And to every fierce competitor in this arena, I have one last ask of you. That you grasp every opportunity, and you revel in it,” he said.
