Do you love cycling? What’s the farthest you have cycled continuously in your life? 5 Km? 10 Km? Maybe 50 Km? But have you ever imagined cycling 4000 Km covering 7 different countries? Yes, that has been made possible by a French doctor. This isn’t your usual tale of royalty or celebrity glamour, but it’s a tale that truly warms the heart and rekindles our faith in humanity.

Pedaling for a greater purpose

In June this year, French doctor Karim Lunisi embarked upon a journey from France to Ukraine on a cycle. His mission? To raise funds for people affected by war in Ukraine. His journey took him through picturesque landscapes in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland. But this wasn’t a leisurely vacation – it was a mission of kindness and support.

Karim’s initial plan was to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a volunteer when the full-scale invasion began. However, due to his age and limited English proficiency, he wasn’t accepted. Instead of giving up, he decided to channel his energy into another avenue: charity.

Karim’s bike ride wasn’t just about covering distances; it was about bridging gaps and spreading hope. His goal was to raise funds to purchase generators and first-aid kits for the military in Ukraine. “I came here on behalf of all people who want peace, and with my visit, I want to remind the whole world that the war in Ukraine continues,” Karim Lunisi passionately stated.

This wasn’t Karim’s first encounter with Ukraine’s struggles. He visited Lviv in the spring of 2022, just as the conflict escalated. Back then, he promised that he would return with help. True to his word, Karim is now back on Ukrainian soil, holding onto his promise of support.

Upon his arrival in Lviv, Karim was greeted by the city’s mayor, Andrii Sadovyi. A symbol of solidarity, a commemorative coin of Danylo of Galicia was presented to Karim. It’s a small gesture that carries immense significance, embodying the gratitude of a nation for Karims’s selfless dedication.
