Ever dreamed of winning big in a lottery or a draw? You could do so much with the money – settle down, take care of your loved ones, live a life of travel and luxury, and so much more. For most people, it would solve most problems. No more hustling with minimum wage jobs or finding part-time work to survive on your income. It would simply be you in your fancy manor and the license to get on your feet. That’s exactly the jackpot that ex-paratrooper Darren Bell fell into.

The 54-year-old is now living the good life after winning the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw and receiving a coastal home near Blakeney worth £4,500,000, along with £100,000. Bell is spoilt for choice when it comes to stunning views of the north Norfolk coastline.

Bell, a former skydiver, entered the charity prize draw for just £10. The draw, in total, raised £1,400,000 for the RNLI. Bell claims he was absolutely stunned by the windfall and immediately celebrated his massive stroke of fortune. “When I got the knock on the door to tell me I’d won the house in Norfolk I was gobsmacked,” he said. “The first thing I did was head straight to the local pub to celebrate, and of course, I got a few rounds in,” Bell added.

Bell says he woke up the next day wondering whether his win had been a long, elaborate dream. However, sure enough, he now owns the beautiful house, which comes with sprawling gardens with a wildlife pond. The nine-bed mansion has five en-suite bedrooms as well as a heated pool. Additionally, the property also includes a four-bedroom cabin as well as a standalone home office, gym, steam room, and cinema.

“The best thing I’d ever won before this was a £5 bottle of wine in a pub quiz that cost me £10 to enter. I went for a nicer drop to celebrate this win with that’s for sure,” said Bell, still in disbelief. Bell, a simple facilities manager, has gone from working in multi-million-pound buildings and now owning one.

Bell’s plans for the house

Bell wants to live in the house for a while and enjoy it for now. However, he might eventually rent out or even sell the place. “Whatever I decide to do, it’s totally life-changing and the best dilemma I’ve ever had,” Bell claims. He claims entering the contest was a leap of faith, adding that he is used to taking that leap as a former skydiver. He claimed he would have been happy to support the cause regardless of whether he won.

Besides Bell’s winnings, the draw was also very favorable to the RNLI, with the Omaze Norfolk House Draw raising around £1.4 million. RNLI Head of Region Ross Barraclough claimed that he was absolutely delighted by the results of the draw, adding, “It is a fantastic amount of money which will allow us to continue saving lives at sea.”
