The young fan managed to catch the puck swiftly, with the camera zooming in on her. She then proceeded to grasp the gravity of the moment, shortly before tearing up. This event happened during the landmark ‘Hockey Fights Cancer Game’, an initiative by NHL.
Joining hands with the V Foundation of Cancer Research, the event “unites the hockey community in support of cancer patient and their families.” NHL, along with the players from different teams, coaches, office staff, and corporate fans have pledged to fund “game-changing research” with the goal of improving the different treatment options available, and also towards medications and treatments that could potentially cure cancer.
Fans also had the opportunity to donate to this cause, along with an auction with authentic hockey merch, including signed jerseys, hockey sticks pucks, and more.
Twitter Goes Wild
It was not only the fan who was reduced to tears, apparently, so were many fans. The Twitter video posted by Marina, along with several reposts helped gauge the reaction that the community had for this heartwarming gesture.
