During a game in 2019 between New York Jets and New England Patriots, Sam Darnold, the Jets player, was caught on camera saying “Ghosts” while sitting on the bench. He had a microphone on him, and the cameras captured him saying, “I’m seeing ghosts.” This phrase has been a point of discussion ever since.

Interestingly, in that NFL game, Darnold gave a terrible performance. The Jets lost 33-0, and Darnold threw four interceptions and lost a fumble. This night was very frustrating for him, and it affected his reputation. Many fans back then thought that the ghost thing was an attempt by him to divert attention from his poor performance.
Another meeting with the spooky ghost
Recently, Darnold had another alleged encounter with a ghost. In a recent interview on “Pardon My Take,” Darnold talked about staying at George Kittle’s pool house while looking for a new home with the San Francisco 49ers. However, something strange happened to him there.
One night, Darnold woke up feeling paralyzed and scared. He shared that he couldn’t move for a few seconds. On other nights, he felt like there was something mysterious in the room with him, which made him very uncomfortable. It’s not clear if these experiences were just a coincidence or if Darnold’s imagination played a trick on him, but they definitely frightened him.
Fan reactions and speculations
As news of Darnold’s ghostly encounter circulated, fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the matter.
One user suggested that Darnold may have been referring to kids seeing ghosts rather than expressing frustration with his performance.

Some people also acknowledged the immense pressure quarterbacks face when playing against formidable opponents like the New England Patriots. The same pressure may have played its part in Darnold’s illusion.
I actually like this outta Sam. And he’s right. And it’s because of NE, not himself…sounds bad, but it’s a reality for qbs

Some other users also based and criticized Darnold for his performance, dismissing any potential external factors contributing to his performance.
