Iowa Football Community Mourns the Death of 23-Year-Old Former Player?Cody?Ince

The Iowa football community is in mourning after learning about the death of former linesman for the University of Iowa, Cody Ince. The 23-year-old player retired from the sport after a series of injuries, pressing pause on a potential career in the NFL.

He represented the University for a period of three years between 2018-2021 and played 30 games and also started in 10 games for the Hawkeyes. He was a student of engineering at the institute and coveted with All-Big Ten honors and a dean’s list recognition.

How did it happen?

The 23-year-old passed away at his residence in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, and the authorities have not given a definite cause of death yet. A standout player in his days with extreme promise, Ince was known for his great personality and lovable, charismatic attitude.

“Cody was a tremendous young man, valued teammate, and contributor to our program. He loved football, fishing and hunting, and believed in the importance of family and friendships. Cody was just beginning this next chapter of his life and was about to be married,” the Iowa Head coach said on the passing away of the former footballer.

Tributes, condolences, messages of shock, grief, support, all poured in huge amounts for the former linesman. He was survived by his father, mother and sister, along with his grandmother. Olivia Tucker was his fiancee.

His former team, Hawkeye, posted a heartfelt tribute for the unfortunate loss of a gem.
