In the not-so-distant past, a thrilling showdown of a Powercruise took a perilous turn. It happened on a racetrack near Brisbane, Queensland. Powercruise is a world that is available for anybody to discover and push the boundaries of their cars given only one clause. The cars need to pass the safety check, and that’s all you need to step into the world of Powercruise.
After two consecutive deaths in the field, questions are arising regarding the safety grounds of this game. A professional drag racer died earlier this month losing control of his car as he collided with a cam tower.?
Soon after this tragic happening in Brisbane, another death left the Powercruise realm shocked. A man’s car tragically rolled during the 93rd installment of Powercruise promotions at Brisbane leading to the loss of his life. His name was Shane Savage. The Queensland police have been investigating the death of the Gold Coast man.
Shane Savage, at an early age of 41 fell prey to his passion for speed. He was thrown out of his car as the car rolled on the raceway. He suffered for about four days at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He breathed his last on Tuesday.?
Balancing speed thrills and safety chills in the racing tracks
“There’s nothing else I’ve done in life that gives me that awesome feeling of excitement and adrenaline.”, said a Powercruise enthusiast, Kyle Douglas, who considers that he is here in the universe for just one reason, to drive cars “to the limits”. Douglas highlighted the fact that such fatal and devastating incidents impact the amateur racing community.

Douglas further added, “But it’s a dangerous operation, I’m not walking the dog in the park, I’m driving a 1,000 plus horsepower burn out car.”, referring to the element of risk that is always involved with such activities. However, he said that there also must be a strict safety checklist that drivers must always pass before stepping with their cars on the track.
Reports from the Queensland government revealed that about 202 people have died on state roads within these 9 months of 2023.
