Recently, a mountain riding venture in Turkey resulted in unexpected casualties, sending shockwaves through the grieving locality. High above the province of Antalya, a tragic incident unfolded, claiming the life of a young Lithuanian climber. With vivid inspections ongoing, the harrowing situation highlighted a brutal reality.
Reportedly, the thrill-seeking man was traveling along the southern slopes of Geyik Mountain when he lost his grip on the ground, facing a nerve-wracking fall. Coming from a group of 25 members, his fellow mates were dumbfounded when they witnessed this deadly mishap. Uncertain about the unfortunate man’s condition, the distressed climbers decided to quit the mission and look for communication methods. With no time to waste, they made an emergency assistance call, waiting anxiously for help to arrive while every second felt like an eternity.
Climbing venture goes horribly wrong

The unlucky 23-year-old climbing enthusiast, named Oscar Leha, was part of a Lithuanian team who began their journey on October 29. Holding their spirits high and their resolve strong, the climbing group managed to reach a daunting altitude of 2,877 meters, nestled within the Taşeli plateau. Sadly, it was at this moment that Oscar encountered the horrific descent, marking a grim twist in his navigation trip. Although they were accompanied by a guide, the unforgiving terrain seemed to exhibit coarser hurdles with the team contemplating the journey ahead.
While his team questioned the unknown circumstances that caused his fall, Oscar instantly disappeared over the cliff’s edge, leaving the climbers in further shock and disarray. Evidently, the remote location played a crucial role in this tragedy, with the absence of phone reception severing the lifeline to the outside world.

Absorbing the situation, the team had to alter their course, returning to the nearest settlement as they raced against time. Upon arrival, a swift call was placed, urging the local gendarmerie, medical teams, and a rescue unit to visit in no time.

After a painstaking search, a sorrowful discovery was made when they located Oscar’s lifeless body, followed by his evacuation, marking a somber end to the fateful day. While this dreadful demise ignited through investigations, a similar stance of a climbing catastrophe had unleashed grievances in Colorado’s Summit County months ago. According to reports, a solo climber had embraced a thrilling ascent, which eventually took a chilling turn. The 29-year-old adventurer, whose identity still remains undisclosed, had seemingly set out to scale the brutal inclines of the Officers Wall when his life was cut short.

As the audacious man kept climbing, he disregarded the time slipping away, which delayed his return. Concerned by the unexplainable scenario, a friend informed the law enforcement authorities regarding the missing case, recorded around 10:30 at night. Subsequently, the search and rescue crews rallied to begin their mission, scouring the rugged landscape in a race against the darkness. After three relentless hours, the Summit County Rescue Group’s mission coordinator had to make a tough call, planning to temporarily suspend the search.

The Sunday dawn brought renewed hope but also uncertainty, while the climber’s family joined the authorized teams. At approximately 7:50 a.m., rescue personnel discovered the heart-wrenching scene, locating the victim’s lifeless body. By noon, his body was evacuated, while the climbing community mourned another loss. While both accidents took off miles apart, they mutually depicted a solemn reminder of the risks inherent to mountain expeditions.
