Frankie Dettori, one of the legends, has finally announced his retirement from Professional Jockeying. Frankie had a career span of 35 years. After all these years of hard work and sacrifice, Dettori now wants to enjoy his life. However, he has not ruled out the possibility of coming out of retirement.
Frankie decided to retire after he saw Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench. He wanted to retire on his own terms rather than people telling him to retire. Also, he wants to spend time with his wife and enjoy his retirement life.
Cristiano Ronaldo Made Him Think About Retirement

In an interview with sports.yahoo Frankie mentioned as to how Ronaldo made him think about retirement. “I was watching the World Cup last year and a great player like Ronaldo, he was on the bench for Portugal”– Dettori Said.
“I didn’t want to finish my career not getting the good rides so I thought this was the perfect time to stop and leave my legacy at the top. “Thirty six years as a professional… where has the time gone? I will be 53 in December so I’m not getting any younger and I wanted to find the right balance to stop while still at the top and still good enough to put on a good show.

Every athlete wants to finish the sports when he is on top of his game. However, 35 years is a long time for any athlete. Dettori has never won the Melbourne Cup, and he is fully concentrating on the race.. He wants to give it one last try before he finally calls off his day.
As a professional athlete, you don’t get much time with your family. However, a career 35 years long has his own share of sacrifices. Dettori is a father of 5 children and now wants to give attention to his wife and children.
“I will find my feet and regroup with my wife, because my five kids have flown the nest, so we will see.

“The house is very empty at the moment, the children have to find their own life but I am very close to them and they are often coming back to the nest.
Retirement Will Be Tough for Frankie
Every athlete has to stop playing his favorite game at one point in his life. Frankie Dettori will also find it tough after retirement. A long love affair will finally come to an end.

However, he is not thinking much ahead and just wants to take one race at a time. A brilliant career is coming to an end, hopefully Frankie will have a happy second innings as well.
