As these plushies made headlines at the annual toss event, their cuddly chaos took off in the second period right after the Bears scored a goal. As the hockey announcer’s voice echoed, it initiated the sweet mayhem of fans reveling in joy. Contributing to a heartfelt cause, the exuberant downpour of plushies began just four minutes into the second half. Creating an awe-inspiring extravaganza on the rink, this annual tradition gained immense appreciation from enthusiasts and experts alike.

According to reports, the previous hockey game donation was 67,309 teddies, collected by over 35 local charities through the Hershey Bears Cares program. Since its inception in 2001, this tradition has amassed nearly half a million cuddly creatures for children in need. Illustrating widespread popularity, this campaign also saw the Sweigart Family Foundation’s consistent support.

With spirited attempts beyond the hockey game donation, the organization was reported pledging $55,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network in Hershey. While recognizing the remarkable efforts of local fans, they noted becoming a vital contributor to aids, exceeding $325,000 since 2016. As these impactful incidents highlighted the philanthropic spirit of the community, it also won over 100 volunteers.
Subsequently, the Sweigart Family Foundation’s commitment to donate a dollar for every bear thrown became pivotal. Diving into this charitable endeavor, the GIANT Company also joined its noble cause. While the helpers diligently counted and sorted the hockey game’s teddy collections, they admitted distributing them to more than 30 local organizations.

Admirably, the GIANT officials made another move, in addition to sponsoring the hockey event, by donating $10,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network. Now in its 22nd year, this teddy toss program recorded gathering a total of 464,107 stuffed animals for local charities to date.
