Hikers have decided to create a spectacle after sunset in order to raise funds for charity. The two famous places where this event will take place are at Mam Tor in Derbyshire and Pen y Fan in Powys. Around 1,000 hikers will take place in the event. The event will look to raise funds for Mountain Rescue England and Wales.

All the walkers will look to light up the two peaks by standing in a long line. Most of them will be wearing head torches in the head. Hopefully, the event can raise a sufficient amount of money for charity.

Hikers unite for a noble cause

The hikers took up a fantastic initiative of raising money for a noble cause. It’s not always easy to complete such long endurance challenges. A lot of preparation goes into it so that the body is ready. Most of the people taking up the challenge are normal people. However, their spirit is not affected and they want to contribute maximumly towards the charity. The group has already raised £10,000 through their JustGivingPage.

While speaking to BBC, the organizers and the participants shared their feelings regarding the event.

Organiser Keith Jones said: “I honestly can’t express how proud I am.”“The nerves are definitely kicking in.” Among the participants is a 42- year-old electrician who feels hiking and meditation helped him mentally and have given him mental peace.

He said: “It’s really taught me to live for now and appreciate where we are and what we have.”

Hayley Johnson from Derbyshire is also taking part in the event. She is excited about the event and wants to contribute the maximum towards the challenge. She said : “Eighteen months ago I didn’t possess a pair of walking shoes and now I find myself hiking, paddleboarding, climbing and adventuring.

“I’m happy to support this initiative. Anything that raises the profile of the great outdoors and the positive effects of meeting new people and climbing mountains.”

An Event for Charity Purpose

The entire event is being organized to raise money for charity. Raising funds through charity has always been a part of the society. Many groups organize events to raise funds for special purposes. However, this event is more special because of the participants involved in it. Around 1000 hikers will take part in the event and will look to generate the maximum, amount of funds. Hopefully, the event will take place successfully and can generate a sufficient amount of funds for the charity.
