Carter Dallas is already a part of history at 2-years-old and he might not be aware of his feat at all! While most of us conceive the dream of scaling the tallest peak in the world, this little kid from Britain has achieved the feat while still having all of his life left for him to enjoy. When Dallas reached Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal on October 25 last year, he became the youngest person ever to set foot in Mt. Everest base camp. Dallas bettered the record of a fellow Czech kid, who was four years old, to have previously set foot in the base camp.
So how did such a young kid manage to trek such perilous terrain? Where did he learn to hike at such a tender age? Was the kid all alone in his quest? Well, let’s dive into the details to see how exactly the miracle-like phenomenon unfolded.

Originally from Glasgow, Carter Dallas belongs to a family of three. Both his mother Jade and father Ross are avid outdoorsmen and thus, hiking is pretty much in their genes. All three of them embarked on a trip to Asia that would last for a year. Carter, perched comfortably on his father’s back, soaked in the indescribable serenity of nature as he hiked 17,598 ft above sea level.
Speaking about their journey, the 35-year-old father stated that the family prepared for the trek in several ways. They practiced various breathing techniques that would help them get accustomed to the rugged climate. To cope with the extreme temperatures, the family, including the two-year-old involved in the ice bath plunges. What sets this trek apart is the fact that everything was done in a jiffy. The family had a couple of sleeping bags, food, and jackets. They initiated the trek hours after arriving in Kathmandu.
While reflecting on Carter’s spirits throughout the trek, his father was all smiles. He said, “Carter coped better than me and his mum. We both got slight altitude sickness but he was absolutely fine. There were two medics at the villages before base camp and they tested his blood to check he was fine, his results were way better than ours – they were amazed!”
However, this was not the only instance when young Carter was involved in an adventure.

2-year-old Carter leads an adventurous life
Thanks to his parents, Carter’s life does not, in any manner, resemble a regular 2-year-old kid. Soon after his birth, Carter was fortunate enough to spend his birthday at the Universal Studios. He also witnessed Christmas celebrations at Penang and celebrated the New Year at Koh Lanta, Thailand. The family, reluctant to settle down, has now embarked on a jungle safari in Khao Sok, after which they are due to visit Bangkok and Cambodia.

Speaking about his child’s experiences, Ross beamed while saying that such frequent traveling has helped Carter recognize different cultures. As a matter of fact, the little kid is already familiar with greetings such as “namaste” and “sawadika”. Ross further stated that the kid loves interacting with his friends in the village and resonates deeply with the Islamic prayer call- ‘Azan’.
