Notably, Leg’s passion for hiking trips saw an array of troubles. After losing her job during the 2020 pandemic, she turned her wheels into wanderlust while traversing the US for two years. After returning to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2022, Peg not only completed it but also extended her journey to tackle the Bama to Baxter course in 2023.
As the Appalachian Trail (AT), Benton Mackaye Trail, Pinhoti Trail, and the International Appalachian Trail fell beneath her hiking footsteps, Leg shared vivid details. Painting her triumphs in excellence, the young adventurer recalled her experiences on the AT last year. Notably, she mentioned wrapping it up with the unique tradition of ‘Darren sockeyer.’
Following hiking rituals, this idea involved extracting a sock, submerging it in a cup of beer, and indulging in its flavor. Squeezing out the last drops into her mouth, Peg explained the noteworthy aspects of her trip, claiming, “We all went back to one of the cabins,” as she further added, “Slept on the kitchen floor of one of the cabins. We stayed up so late with the giggles.”
Diverse experiences uplifting morale at prolonged trek
Significantly, Leg’s hiking prowess propelled her to sporting efficiency, earning appreciation as the second woman victor of ECT. As she secured the 10.5-month-long solo trek, the final chapters of her trip unfolded on a scorching day. Adding a layer of challenge to the last two miles, her stop at the Twisted Rooster introduced the climactic celebrations.
