A 64-year-old grandfather of two shocked everyone after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Morganathan Naidoo surprised everyone after he achieved this unbelievable feat. The veteran mountaineer climbed the tallest peak in Africa with ease. However, he has been waiting for this moment for the last nine years.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the fourth most noticeable peak in terms of topography on Earth. It’s a popular place for hiking and people enjoy hiking there. Naidoo worked really hard to achieve this feat and credits his team members for his success.

64-year-old Naidoo currently lives in Lincoln Meade. He began his training to climb the mountain three years ago and is also a member of the Midlands Hiking Club. Although he had no experience of climbing before, proper training allowed him to prepare well. The atmosphere in the camp also helped him to cope with the pressure. It’s always a tough challenge to prepare yourself for such an event. Also, considering his age, a lot of things need to be in consideration.

Naidoo shared some of his experiences while speaking to Citizen.
“I started my climb on September 23, summited on September 28 and finished on September 29,” said Naidoo.“A variety of freshly-prepared meals were provided daily by my tour operator Altezza Travel and chickpeas were on the menu daily,”
The five-day journey started with 14 people in the group. However, Naidoo was the only one in the group from South Africa. The hikers in the group supported each other during the entire journey and the atmosphere was also fantastic. All the 14 members from the group made it back safely to the base. None of the members suffered from any injuries and came back from the summit safely. With proper training and determination, Naidoo achieved a very rare feat.

Morganathan Naidoo- A New Hero in the Town
It’s very rare that we see a 64-year-old man achieve something like this. Naidoo proved to the entire world that age is just a number. However, it is important to work hard towards your goal, irrespective of your age. He is a source of inspiration for many people out there. His grandchildren will also look up to him and learn the importance of hard work and self belief.
Naidoo believes that the main thing that kept him going is his determination. The entire journey was not smooth and there were times he wanted to give up. However, he kept going and completed the whole summit. Luckily, he did not suffer from any injuries. Hopefully, he continues to inspire people all around the world in the future as well.
