Notably, the elderly man’s missing report came from a concerned friend who shared a word with him around 1:30 p.m. on that very day.
As he sought assistance from the local authorities, the West Valley Search and Rescue team etched their plans for an urgent hiking rescue. A part of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, they sadly recalled locating Kopecky’s fallen body along the trail.
While this gruesome discovery prompted an overnight vigil to protect the victim from wildlife, the hiking rescuers awaited a safer time. Committed to protecting the senior man’s body, they chose to stay at the spot till the next morning, waiting for the helicopter airlift procedures.

Driving her Ford Ranger off the road near Mile Marker 3.3, she was reported facing a dreadful fall, causing severe damage to the vehicle and herself.
Stranded along the hiking trails of the Angeles National Forest, she endured freezing temperatures and harsh conditions before etching a miraculous recovery. Gladly, when another vigilant hiker spotted the stranded truck, they alerted rescue crews who later found her. Still trapped inside, the lady was airlifted to a local hospital.
