Avalanche horror on Oshtorankuh claims five, leaving a frigid trail of tragedy

This incident is echoing like a cautionary tale through the vast expanse of Iran’s towering snow-capped peaks. An unpredictable disastrous avalanche claimed the lives of five of the courageous souls and four mountaineers were seriously injured. Despite ominous weather warnings, the team of nine set their foot on the perilous journey last Thursday. 

Their journey was nothing short of an elemental dance with fate. The mountaineering squad faced an avalanche about 186 miles Southwest of Tehran. The rescue team reached the spot at their earliest and rescued four of the injured mountain climbers. But unfortunately, five of them could not be saved from the unforgiving play of nature. 

In a recent statement, the Iranian Red Crescent reported, “Yesterday, following the avalanche in Oshtorankuh, Lorestan, nine people had an accident, of which four people were taken to the hospital with the efforts of aid workers, and unfortunately five people were also missing.” They further added that the bodies of two missing mountaineers were rescued yesterday and three more bodies were found later. All the efforts were put forward by the Red Cresent Rescue Team.

The four mountaineers who were rescued from the spot were immediately taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. According to the reports shared by IRNA a warning was previously provided by the local authorities regarding the risks that have been overshadowing the San Boran Peak. But going against all warnings the daring squad decided to embark on their journey.

The San Boran Peak has been facing heavy rain and snowfall for the last few days. The fact that the team decided to go against the warnings did not turn out well for the team. This incident stands as a testament to the fact that to answer the call of adventure we must always also be aware of the precautionary measures.
