Jenn Drummond has recently earned the admiration of the entire world by scaling impossible heights at 40! What’s more amazing to know is the fact that Drummond has seven kids to take care of. The 40-year-old made history by becoming the first female to scale the seven-second summits of the world. However, the beginning of the story is entirely different. Drummond was an affectionate mother whose world revolved around the well-being of her kids solemnly. 

It was in 2018 that Jenn Drummond encountered a life-threatening accident that changed the way she perceived life. After enduring significant pain, Drummond ultimately managed to get back to normal life. That is when she decided to make her life a journey to remember that would inspire others for a very long time. After Jenn Drummond healed from the fatal crash, she began to make small changes in her daily routine. The 40-year-old went on solo dates to remind herself who she was and her priorities and preferences. With one thing leading to the other, soon, Drummond was training to complete a hike on the Ama Dablam mountain in Nepal. At around this time, a conversation between Drummond and her son shed light on a greater mission of her life.

While trying to inspire her son, Drummond stated, “We do hard things.” This sentiment resonated with Drummond as she asked her coach to prepare her for the challenge of Mt. Everest. However, looking at his student’s tenacity, her tutor proposed an even tougher mission. Drummond was asked if she could climb all the second-highest points across the seven continents. Quite expectedly, Drummond obliged. 

She trained rigorously, and ultimately, in June 2023, Jenn Drummond accomplished her dream and etched her name on the Book of World Records. However, while reminiscing about her inspiring journey, Drummond also spoke about how important it was to fail.

Hiking World Record holder discusses the importance of failure

Jenn Drummond stated that failure is always a part of learning. No one should be ashamed to discuss it openly. Drummond further highlighted that she failed twice while trying to complete her mission and had to start again. However, the hiker stated that it was important to know how to bounce back from failure and enjoy the process that would ultimately lead to success. 

The 40-year-old also stated that one needs to put in a lot of grinding to achieve a few moments of happiness. She cited her example of training for 1232 hours just to enjoy the peak of Mt Everest for 10 minutes. Jenn Drummond, with her exceptional approach toward life, surely stands as a shining example of how anyone can achieve greatness through determination and sheer hard work.
