Hiking enthusiast achieves sensational landmarks

Jordan Florentville has never been an average hiker, winning his way through the recent trip on the dormant volcano. Shrouded in ice glaciers and forests, the unforgiving area stands at a staggering 19,341 feet above sea level, depicting the unparalleled hardships of reaching the spot. To put it in perspective, Kilimanjaro is named one of the most iconic hiking zones, making it a part of the exclusive group of the seven tallest peaks on the planet. Subsequently, it was the mental aspect that proved to be the most challenging for Florentville.

The trek took the hiking star through various zones, including the jungles, unfavorable alpine deserts, and even rocky, glacial passages near the summit. Struggling through the unpredictable weather conditions, which added to his difficulty, Florentville remarked, “For me, the biggest part was being patient with myself to walk that slow.” Significantly, the hiker’s conquest was not just a personal achievement; it ignited a passion for even greater heights. Crediting his friends who initially pitched the idea behind the climb, Florentville prepared for the daunting challenge of Mount Everest.

A chilling plan ahead 

As the hiking sensation started preparing for the upcoming Everest tour, he offered valuable advice for aspiring adventurers. Encouraging them to use Saint Lucia as a training ground due to its varied territory, Florentville acknowledged its mountainous landscapes and off-road tracks. “Don’t be afraid of hills,” he suggested, with the tallest peak of the world glistening in his vision. While Jordan looked ahead to earn another summit, the recent stats on hiking along the steep inclines of Everest portrayed a shocking trend. 

According to reports, more than 310 people have lost their lives attempting to climb the peak to date since accessibility to exploration was granted in the early 1900s. While harsh conditions and extreme altitude made it a perilous endeavor, one of the grim realities of the hiking area was the presence of dead bodies littering its slopes. Sadly, retrieving those bodies can be dangerous and expensive, with final repatriation costs ranging in the tens of thousands of dollars. In some cases, the cost can even be as high as $70,000, keeping the chances of fatalities aside. 

This year, a record number of hiking ventures were attempted on the peak, creating traffic jams in a ‘death zone’ where the air is dangerously thin. However, looking at Jordan Florentville’s determination to scale this formidable zone, his willingness to overcome this deadly route was seemingly visible.
