Prince Harry and Meghan’s GTA-Styled Paparazzi Car Chase in New York Echoes Princess Diana’s Tragedy

This year in the month of May, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle encountered a harrowing chase while they were traveling through the streets of New York. The relentless paparazzi pursuit is very common for the royal couple with Meghan Markle being a notable Hollywood star.

The encounter of the paparazzi with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is describe to be as a ‘near-catastrophic car chase.’ While riding in a yellow cab, they were pursued for a stretch of two hours by six blacked out vehicles. The chase instantly brings back the memory of August 1997 when the world experienced a similar kind of pursuit by the paparazzi. This ultimately led to the death of Princess of Wales, Diana who failed to evade the paparazzi when the vehicle lost control and ended in a crash. 

One of the spectators who was present among the crowd shared her experience with the CBS News, “A lot of the paparazzi were heckling Meghan and Harry. As they were leaving, the way they chase the car, it just reminds you of all the other scenes you’ve seen in the past with Prince Harry’s mother.”
