Exercising for a cause is always a happy activity. It combines the benefits of exercise with the benevolence of doing something good for those around you. However, while running marathons for a cause used to be popular, events have become more varied over time. People take up activities like skydiving, charity matches across sports, and now even hiking to make a difference. A hiking event of this nature took place in the city of Domats in France.

The event was initiated by the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) and saw over 30 people participating. The Children’s Walk For Hope 2023, the third edition of the event in France, saw nearly 30 local residents participating to help the cause.

The CNCF, which has been running in Vietnam since 1989, is one of the longest-operating international non-profit organizations in the country. The group undertook its hiking initiative to raise funds to aid the spiritual and material needs of disadvantaged children in Vietnam. The organization intends to put the money it raised to good use, especially in the education space, in the countries of Vietnam and Mongolia.

For the Children’s Walk For Hope 2023, participants spent over three hours hiking. They went past fields, lakes, forests, and villages before gathering at the Domats community center. After reaching, they sat through an introduction to the CNCF and its activities in Mongolia and Vietnam. The CNCF even managed to bring a touch of Vietnam to the event. Once the hike was complete, the participants enjoyed a Vietnamese meal prepared by a local Vietnamese couple.

The CNCF’s influence in bringing about positive change cannot be overstated. As of today, the organization has launched over 100 projects in Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent provinces. Their efforts have helped hundreds of thousands of children across Vietnam.

How CNCF Helps the World

According to CNCF’s own sources in 2018, the charity brought in about S$3 million in income that year. While 76% of that came from institutional, corporate, and individual donors, 18% came from fundraising activities. In fact, the founder of the charity, Christina Noble, was awarded the Friendship Order by Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet to acknowledge her contributions to the relationship between the UK and Vietnam.

We absolutely admire a campaign that leads us to a more equitable future, and that’s exactly what CNCF does. By giving kids an opportunity to study, the non-profit is offering these children an escape from poverty. Meanwhile, we also appreciate the spirit of the people from Domats, who committed their time and energy to helping less fortunate children.
