Malcolm McDonald, a high-spirited mountaineering hailing from Co Tyrone, Ireland dared to reach for the sky. He treated the rugged heights of the Alpine giants as his home.

Tragically, the mountaineer’s journey took a fateful turn. As his dreams soared higher, his saga ended in a somber tone in the heart of nature.

After finishing off with the Spartan Trifecta adventure race, the 42-year-old with his heart full of passion embarked on a journey to the Alps. This September, a few days back, Malcolm lost his life falling from the mountains.

In 2001, Burtscher M. et al. stated that every year approximately 10 million hikers and skiers visit the Austrian peaks.

The mountaineering community of Co Tyrone has been pouring out their emotional and passionate tributes for the braveheart.

The Mid-Ulster Mountaineers too paid their tribute over social media saying, “It is with great sadness for all of us to learn of the passing of our esteemed member…There is little peace knowing that Malcom achieved his Spartan goal in Austria and spent his last moments doing something he loved”. They empathized with Malcom’s family and close ones.
