During birth, Aslin was diagnosed with a rare heart condition known as left heart syndrome in which the heart remains underdeveloped with a very low chance of survival. To combat the condition, the newborn underwent surgeries, one when he was only four days old and the other prior to his first birthday.
However, the third attempt at performing surgery led to tragic results when the young boy suffered multiple strokes causing extensive damage to the brain. As a result of these strokes, Aslin got paralyzed on the left side and even lost his vision. However, it is his passion for football that helped the young boy to find solace in the sport overcoming the physical pain.
Aslin’s mother Michelle shared some insights with Grimsby Live, “We promised we’d get him to the last game of the season. He started running for the first time since his operation. Without his love of football, I don’t think he would be where he is now.”

Michelle reiterated a heartwarming moment when during his stay at the hospital Aslin smiled for the first time after hearing cheers as his favorite team Grimsy Town scored a goal by Harry Clifton. Throughout his journey towards recovery, the young boy has garnered significant support and love from both players and fans.
However, his recovery journey reached its peak moment when Aslin was endowed with the opportunity of meeting his favorite football heroes on the ground at Blundell Park. Following this, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has made his dream come true by allowing him to walk alongside Harry Kane, the skipper of the England football team.
Although he has gradually regained strength in his arms and legs, he is still partially impaired. In order to enhance his eyesight, the treatment in Berlin will cost £10,000. Aslin’s parents are working on their mission of raising £15,000 so that all other expenses including flight tickets, accommodations and post-treatment therapy will be covered with the raised amount.
