In a shocking turn of events, Bowie High School in Texas witnessed the tragic demise of Daniel Esparza, a 17-year-old student during a football match. The game between Bowie and Ysleta at Baty Simmang Memorial Stadium claimed the life of the senior band member. University Medical Center confirmed the news on behalf of the school, although the cause has not been addressed.
After losing consciousness and collapsing during the performance, the athletic trainers provided primary medical support before rushing him to the hospital. The strong presence Daniel had at school as a responsible member and trustworthy leader has astounded everyone closely associated with him and beyond.

Daniel stood out among other students because of his lively nature and wholehearted dedication in everything he participated in. As Bowie band director Roberto Campus III shared with Fort Worth Star-Telegram, “Daniel had a great passion for life, he loved his family, his friends, his school … We always enjoyed being around Daniel, he was a positive influence on others, he was a great friend. In honor of him, we will continue to perform, we will continue to be the best we can. That’s what he would have wanted.”
Besides, Daniel used to be enthusiastic about music, and unfortunately that led to a fatal end. His strong presence and amiable nature will be felt vigorously and there will be no one to fill his void. He helped his fellow classmates to grab the lessons in class, said Rosauro Gandarilla, the Bowie High School Principal. The district, the counselors team and Bowie High School have collectively come forward to provide any necessary support, staying beside Daniel’s family. That will be the way of paying their heartfelt respect and tribute to their treasured student.
Was the weather to be blamed for this tragedy?
Among the spectators of this horrific incident were Liana Armijo and Armando Adame, the Ysleta ISD athletic trainers. Daniel was the first one who required CPR compressions in Armijo’s 20 years of experience as a trainer. As per Armijo’s report to CBS Austin, the experienced coach blames the hot weather, “Whether there were underlying conditions or not it doesn’t change the fact that it was very hot out there and being out in the desert it makes anybody susceptible to a heat illness, especially last night on the field it was over 100 degrees,” Armijo said.

People not directly associated with Daniel came forward to help him. Roberto’s mother, Georgina Campos collected funds to cover up the medical expenses by creating a GoFundMe account. However, all the efforts and prayers failed to bring back Daniel.

Staying outside sports, Daniel was not involved in the football game. This very fact makes it even more difficult for the parents to accept Daniel’s passing away. The youngster martyred his life doing his duty as a band member ignoring the detrimental impacts of the harsh atmosphere leading to dehydration.
