November 12 seemed like a Bloody Sunday in college football, as during his third season with the Broncos, Andy Avalos faced the chopping block. Followed by a successful 10-4 campaign in 2022, the team struggled at 5-5 this year raising questions on Avalo’s leadership. Even though, Boise State was predicted to take an upper hand at the Mountain West Conference, they lost for the first time since 1997 which has put the coaching decisions of the head coach under scrutiny.
As reported by DeseretNews, the athletic director of Boise State Jeramiah Dickey said in a statement about Avalos’ firing, “I am grateful for the passion, effort and dedication Andy has given to our community and his alma mater while serving as our head coach.” Following the departure of Avalos, Boise has shifted the coaching responsibilities to Spencer Danielson as he becomes the interim coach for the rest of the season.
