Nike, the American apparel giant, is breaking new ground with its latest partnership to revolutionize gender norms in football. Teaming up with renowned designer Martine Rose, Nike is venturing into the world of traditional tailoring, combining sportswear and formal attire to create a groundbreaking collection.

A fusion of styles

This is not the first time Nike has collaborated with Rose in a tournament. During the men’s Euro 2020, she reimagined the England football team jersey in a project titled “The Lost Lionesses.”

Also, last summer, Nike and Rose introduced the Nike Shox MR4 shoe during the European Women’s Championship, highlighting the unsung heroes of British football. This ongoing partnership reflects Nike’s commitment to supporting female athletes in both their on-field and off-field moments.

Closing the gender gap in tailoring

Nike‘s collaboration with Martine Rose marks a significant milestone in the realm of women’s sportswear. They are actively supporting female athletes during their formal occasions away from the field.

The collection is tailored to British football culture and seeks to challenge traditional gender norms by offering gender-neutral clothing and shoes.

The collection, set to be launched at the start of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup this month, will be exclusively available on Martine-Rose.com for the first five days. From July 27 onwards, it will also be accessible on Nike.com, the Snkrs app, and select Nike stores.

The collection features a suit, trench coat, shirt, and various accessories such as socks, gloves, and sunglasses. Martine Rose emphasizes that the suit, despite being showcased by women, has no gender attached to it and can be worn by anyone.

In addition to the clothing line, Martine Rose introduces the Nike Shox Mule MR4, a footwear collaboration with Nike. The latest installment of this collaboration offers vibrant colorways inspired by 1990s goalkeeper jerseys. It has two design options, including gradient blue-to-purple and yellow-to-orange. The mules are adorned with splashes of paint, adding an energetic touch to the collection.
