Pro-Gamer Liam ‘Jukeyz’ James revealed harrowing details about his near-death experience, after experiencing a cardiac arrest. The incident dated back to September 2022, when the eSports athlete experienced an asthma attack.

What followed was nothing short of a deadly experience. The asthma attack led to his heart stopping and he was put in a coma for three days. Liam spoke about how he woke up after three days, feeling lost and completely terrified!

Jukeyz revealed that he was clinically dead for two minutes and called the entire experience “properly scary”. The incident happened just a few weeks after Liam announced to the world that he is now a father.

Speaking to the media after the horrifying experience, Liam said, “It was petrifying when I woke up. I didn’t know what had gone on. I just cried in the hospital, I was scared to sleep, scared to be alone.”

The pro-gamer put out a heartfelt video on Instagram and shared with all his followers what happened with him. “My heart’s fine,” he said in the video, bringing much needed calm in a tense and worrisome atmosphere.

The Redbull athlete returned to pro-gaming as soon as he got discharged from the hospital after 10 days, determined to make the most of the second chance he got.

As a child, Liam’s dream of making it pro-football hit a fullstop, after he was diagnosed with acute asthma. But, Liam is now hellbent on making it count and the birth of his child has given him a new found motivation to excel and grow in life.

“[It] really opened my eyes – I was too distracted from my health by my career, so I now get checked frequently. The doctors and nurses said it was a miracle,” he revealed.

An impressive journey

A former worker in an oil rig to a pro-gamer, his journey is nothing short of inspirational. He quit his job in 2020 and shifted to a full time gamer role. Fast forward three years later and Liam is a signed pro gamer with RedBull. A wonderful and inspirational journey.

He underwent an intense rehabilitation, both physical and mental at the RedBull Athlete Performance Centre (APC) in Salzburg, Austria.

Liam is now in the midst of preparing for the World Series Warzone Global Final in London, during the upcoming weekend. The Warzone is a “classic battle royale”, he explained.

Call Of Duty: Warzone is the American video game publisher Activision’s second attempt at incorporating the genre in their Call Of Duty series (the first was Blackout),and the multiplayer format is what garners such a large following for the game.

Liam recalled how he and his brother were never the best at studying but is thankful for the position he is in now. A father, a husband and a responsible son, Jukeyz’s motivation to excel is his loving family. The strength that guides him through the tough times.
