Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, the breakout star from Stephenville, Texas, made headlines with her performance yet again, clinching the inaugural world championship this year. Evidently, the NFBR event saw her create epic landmarks, leaving a trail in rodeo history! 

After a glorious equestrian show at the 2023 Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping, Boisjoli-Meged emerged successfully, seizing the win like never before. As she became the top-ranked competitor entering the game, the high-spirited player showcased unparalleled skills, securing a determined comeback. With a lead of $25,000 from the previous day, she joined the finale on December 6, followed by a righteous victory! 

Equestrian athlete rises to glory

Shattering records with her latest equestrian gameplay, Boisjoli-Meged stormed into the venue, having a spectacular regular season under the belt. Admirably, after breaking the earnings record with effective consistency, she even amassed an impressive $164,548.

Adding to her power-packed moves, Shelby exhibited an incredible performance throughout her 10-round competition. Hosted at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, the event saw her clinch two round wins with lightning-fast runs of 2.1 seconds in Round 2. 

Subsequently, Boisjoli-Meged also had an epic stance of 2.0 seconds in Round 5, displaying her consistency as she secured top finishes in six rounds. While demolishing the earnings record with an astounding $33,157, Shelby’s total of a whopping $197,706 crowned her with a joyous equestrian triumph.

Unparalleled gameplay lands victories

As she earned the NFBR world champion title, Boisjoli-Meged was also accompanied by the prestigious Montana Silversmiths gold buckle. With her stellar performance throughout the equestrian competition highlighting brilliance and focus, she claimed having faith and trust in God’s plan.

Consequently, Shelby’s partnership with her remarkable 8-year-old sorrel mare, Onna, played another instrumental role in her triumph. Named the 2023 Nutrena Horse of the Year by the AQHA, her friend shared the equestrian icon’s glory, being a trusted companion at every rodeo. 

The event also crowned Cheyanne McCartney from Kingston, Okla., as the NFBR average champion. Reportedly, McCartney’s impeccable equestrian performance in roping nine calves in 32.2 seconds earned her $13,866, solidifying her standing among the elite players. Recalling the epic event, Boisjoli-Meged expressed her glee, stating, “It’s such a blessing. I just can’t believe it. ”
